Meet Sarah Bouse, Our IAFHH Mentor & Advanced Practitioner

May 30, 2022

Hi, I’m Sarah Bouse!

Growing up, I was always the kid people described as “stocky and sturdy.” I was an athlete in middle school and high school, I worked hard and was always on the go, but I never stopped to think about my health.

I figured, if I kept working out and doing the things I wanted, that’s what would make me “healthy”. Meanwhile, I was eating all the typical foods readily accepted in the American diet: cereal, whole grains, sandwiches, salads, pasta, pizza, fruit, vegetables, and dairy. At the time, I wasn’t aware of food quality. It all seemed the same to me.

Towards the end of high school, I began to suffer from a slew of hormonal/endocrine imbalances. I started to experience extreme fatigue, skin issues, mood swings, etc. Although I was suffering, I never made the connection between what I was eating and how it was making me feel.

In an attempt to address these symptoms, I did as most young women would, and went to the doctor. They told me I was “healthy” and decided to put me on birth control for my menstrual cycle issues (I still regret this!).

After just a few short months I started to gain quite a bit of weight (40lbs in 1 year!), my skin became discolored, and I started to experience debilitating abdominal pain that sent me to the hospital 3 times. After a lot of time, frustration, and suffering, I was diagnosed with endometriosis and PCOS.

After my diagnosis, I still continued with my life and figured this was “just how life was going to be”. Once my husband and I got married, we set out a goal to start a family. After a year of trying to conceive, we knew something wasn’t right and we needed to make a change. So, we seeked out fertility support through a Naturopath Doctor.

As I slowly removed the processed food and chemical-laden beauty products from my life, my health began to return and my body started to heal. Through the use of a whole-food diet and quality supplements, I was able to address all those underlying issues and after 3 years of infertility, I got pregnant!

Although I have been through some scary times, and have many more stories to tell, I still wouldn’t trade this experience for the world. My story has helped me to see firsthand the power of real nutrition and how it can restore vitality to your body and bring you back to a state of health.

That experience is what led me to becoming a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. In 2017, I graduated from the Nutritional Therapy Association and began my 1:1 practice. Upon graduating, I had the wonderful opportunity to work in a local wellness clinic and support and educate well over 450 women achieve their health goals.

In 2020, I made the decision to start an online practice specific to high-level executives and entrepreneurs. Today, I support high-achieving women who are struggling with difficult health challenges to create big results through providing individualized nutrition and lifestyle programs that are specific to them and their goals.

In addition to my 1:1 practice, I have joined with IAFHH to not only help practitioners with their personal health goals, but also in their professions. Through the experience I have gained in my 1:1 practice, I am able to share my passion and expertise for coaching to others.

Through an approach that emphasizes client speak and empathetic listening, I empower practitioners to become motivational, inspirational, and highly effective in their field of work. As a result, practitioners who work with me can expect to see higher conversion rate and referrals, protocol compliance, and increased client retention.

I believe IAFHH is an association that is a must for any practitioner working with women. My goal as I collaborate and work within IAFHH is to:

  • Help impact-driven professionals to restore their energy and vibrancy through nutritional therapy and functional hormone health support
  • Provide skills and knowledge to practitioners to help them build a practice with lasting results so their clients can confidently lead themselves, their family, and their careers
  • Help cultivate a network where like-minded entrepreneurs can come together as a community of professionals building a impact-driven businesses

Outside of IAFHH, you can find me hiking in the mountains, sunbathing on the beach, working with special needs children at my local school, or spending time as a mom of 2 very busy boys.
